amal — prayer companion
effective september 7, 2026
amal is built around a simple idea: your worship is yours. it is not data.
what stays on your device
- your prayer log. every prayer you record, your streaks, and your calendar live only on your device. amal has no servers and no accounts. we never see, store, or transmit your prayer history.
- your blocked apps. app blocking runs on Apple’s Screen Time framework. the apps you choose are represented by tokens that Apple never reveals to amal — we cannot see which apps you block, only how many.
- your location. amal uses your location on-device to calculate accurate prayer times. it is never transmitted anywhere.
your device’s own iCloud backup may include amal’s local data, under your Apple account and your control — not ours.
the voice-enabled guide
- it only listens when you turn it on. the prayer guide can follow your recitation and advance on its own. it is off by default, you switch it on inside the guide, and it stops listening when you leave.
- nothing is recorded, and nothing is sent. your speech is recognized entirely on your device. no audio is saved, and neither the audio nor the recognized text ever leaves your phone. there is no server to send it to — the feature works in airplane mode.
- you never have to use it. every step of the guide can be moved through by hand. voice is offered only on devices that support on-device Arabic recognition.
anonymous usage analytics
to understand what’s working and improve amal, we collect a small set of anonymous events through Amplitude: app opens, screens viewed, onboarding steps, permission results, paywall and purchase events, badges earned, and the count of items you block. never your individual prayers, never which apps, never your location, and never anything you say.
this data carries no account, no name, no email, no advertising identifier, and no IP-based location — only a random identifier that cannot be tied to you.
you can turn analytics off anytime in settings → privacy.
purchases
subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. amal never sees your payment details. manage or cancel anytime in your App Store settings. terms of use: Apple standard EULA.
